On June 24, Dr. Colleen Delaney, attending physician at Children's Hospital, harvested the bone marrow of 7-year old patient Mason Bridges, so that he could donate his marrow to his mother in the hopes of helping her cancer treatment.
Drs. Ben Danielson and Lenna Liu and the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic are featured in this TV special about childhood obesity. The special looks at what causes obesity and points to several programs and events, including the "Wee Walk" at OBCC, that aim to slow the rising rate of obesity amongst children.
Dr. Linda Quan, an internationally-known drowning expert and emergency department physician at Children's, warns teens and parents about the dangers of lakes and rivers - and the importance of wearing a life jacket.
"Here in the Northwest, having a life vest should be kind of like having hiking boots," said Dr. Quan.
June 12, 2004 will mark the 20th anniversary of the KOMO TV Miracle Makers telethon broadcast to support Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. Over the years, Miracle Makers has highlighted hundreds of heartwarming and emotional stories about the courageous patients and dedicated hospital staff at Children's.
