The hospital has gift shops on the 1st and 5th floors, in the Giraffe and Whale zones. They sell gifts, jewelry, toys, cards, flowers, phone cards, stamps, candy, magazines, books, personal grooming items and mylar balloons.
Note! Latex balloons are not allowed in the hospital due to allergy and choking hazards.

A U.S. Postal Service drop box is located outside the Whale 6 entrance on the 6th floor. Stamps are available in the ATM machine near the cafeteria on the 5th floor and at the gift shops on the 1st and 5th floors.

Children’s two pharmacies fill prescriptions for children with appointments in our clinics, as well as for children on the inpatient units and in the Emergency Room. Please call the Whale pharmacy at (206) 987-2138 24 hours in advance for prompt refills.

Families who live at least 60 miles from the hospital are eligible to stay at Ronald McDonald House. The facility is located blocks from Children’s hospital.
The hospital provides van service to and from the house to the hospital every two hours on the even hours, or by request. Please call Ronald McDonald House directly for information about their service.

A free, supervised playroom for brothers and sisters is on the 4th floor in the Whale zone. Children ages 3 to 11 who are potty trained may stay for up to two hours at a time on a space-available basis. It is open 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Medical and Surgical Inpatient Units: Each child may have one parent or legal guardian stay with him or her overnight.
If your child is in a single room in the Giraffe zone, both parents may stay overnight, unless your child’s medical condition does not allow this. In each room, either a sleeper chair or fold down couch is available.
Intensive Care Units: Sleeping rooms are available through the ICU unit coordinator. Some patient rooms may have a sleeper chair.
Inpatient Psychiatric Unit: Discuss options with your child’s nurse.
Children's is a smoke-free campus, with the exception of one outdoor smoking shelter that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The shelter is located at the corner of the main hospital drive and the driveway to the Giraffe entrance.
For health and safety reasons, children and teens are not allowed in or near the smoking shelter. Smoking is not allowed in front of any hospital entrance or in parking areas at any time.
You can purchase stamps in the gift shops on the 1st floor near the Giraffe entrance and on the 5th floor near the Sound Cafe. A U.S. Mail drop box is located outside the Whale 6 entrance on the 6th floor.

All Children’s clinics and inpatient units have family waiting areas with TVs, magazines and a limited number of toys for children. In addition, the Family Resource Center has a large family lounge with comfortable sofas and chairs.
