We are a 17-bed critical care unit. We use advanced technical monitoring to care for critically ill patients. We treat infants and children up to 21 years.
We serve patients with a wide range of congenital and acquired illness. We care for those who require medical and surgical intervention, including open-heart surgery and transplantation.
We have the only Extracorporeal Life Support Program in Washington state. Intensivists and pediatric anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day.
Family-centered nursing is a priority in the PICU. Parents are encouraged to participate in their children's care. They are a vital part of the health care team.
Our PICU nurses are specially oriented to pediatric critical care. Most have Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation certification.
