Pastoral and Spiritual Care

Overview

The staff and on-call chaplains provide respectful spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families and staff.

Our staff members are professionally trained chaplains. We serve all cultures and faith traditions.

We also offer some Spanish-language pastoral and spiritual support.

Services Offered

  • 24-hour confidential care
  • Assistance contacting a faith community, minister, priest or rabbi
  • Bereavement support and counseling
  • Care and support during times of illness, injury, crisis and loss
  • Consultation to the health-care team
  • Interfaith opportunities for worship, celebration, learning and reflection
  • Leadership for funerals and memorial services
  • Rituals such as baptism, communion, blessing and anointing

We welcome calls any time from patients and families, as well as staff colleagues. Issues we can address with you include:

  • Celebration of good news
  • Difficulty coping
  • Exploration of spiritual questions
  • Feelings of fear, guilt, vulnerability, discouragement, sadness or loneliness
  • Major decisions
  • Meaning or purpose in life
  • Spirituality as a source of strength and meaning for you
  • Being there when you just need someone to listen

Chapel and Meditation Room

The Chapel and Meditation Room has spiritual resources such as books, audiotapes, CDs, prayer rugs and head coverings. It is available 24 hours a day for prayer, reflection and meditation.

Additional materials are available in the Pastoral and Spiritual Care offices located across from the Chapel and Meditation Room.

We hold interfaith worship services each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Catholic Mass is every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Communion Services in Spanish are on the first and third Saturdays of every month at 3:00 p.m. Other programs include multifaith holiday services and special events.

There is no fee for Pastoral and Spiritual Care.

After hours and for urgent referrals, please call the on-call chaplain via the hospital operator.
